Eid gifts were distributed among orphaned children at the Ghashful Foster Children Care Center, located in Uttar Bari area of Niamatpur Upazila in Naogaon district, on March 26, 2025. As part of this arrangement, the children were bought new clothes of their choice, which became a particularly joyful moment for them. They were extremely delighted to have the opportunity to choose their own clothes by going to the market, as if their own parents had bought these gifts for them. Upon receiving the clothes, both the children and their foster parents became emotional. They expressed hope that this love and care would touch the children’s lives forever.
As Eid gifts, new clothes, vermicelli (shemai), and sugar were handed over to a total of 15 children (5 boys and 10 girls). The event became lively with the presence of local dignitaries and guardians. Prior to this, an Iftar and du’a (prayer) mahfil was organized on March 25 for these motherless and fatherless orphans, where local residents and prominent individuals participated.
Present at the event were Mr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Manager of Ghashful, Niamatpur Area; Mr. Md. Kohinur Islam, Upazila Coordinator of the Samriddhi Program; Mr. Md. Abdullah Al Maruf, Assistant Upazila Program Coordinator; Mr. Md. Imran Hossain, Health Officer; Mr. Md. Shahidul Islam, Branch Manager; and other officials and social workers.
This initiative of Ghashful is not limited to celebrating the Eid festival; it is a long-term welfare-oriented endeavor. The organization is relentlessly working to ensure proper education, healthcare, and social security for orphaned children, so that they can make significant contributions to society in the future.
Moving beyond the traditional methods of raising orphaned children in Bangladesh, Ghashful started the Foster Children Care Center on March 12, 2024, in Uttar Bari of Ward No. 4 in Niamatpur Upazila. This exceptional initiative has been implemented with the advice and cooperation of prominent development worker and social activist Nezbath Maswood. This is the first experimental model to be launched in the country, which has become a new ray of hope for orphaned children.
Under this project, arrangements have been made for orphaned children to be raised in a family environment under the care of foster parents. Initially, 10 orphaned children (4 boys and 6 girls) were transferred to 10 foster families, where they have the opportunity to grow up with affection and care. These families are regularly provided with financial assistance for the children’s food, health, and education. Additionally, a learning support center has been established for the children’s better education, where they can regularly study as well as participate in physical exercise, sports, and creative activities.
To make this initiative sustainable in the long term, an initiative has been taken to form a personal donor forum, which will connect capable individuals in society to ensure support for more children.
The foster system has created a unique opportunity for orphaned children to start a new life, where they can grow up in a safe and loving environment. Ghashful wants to expand this special model across the country so that many more orphaned children get the opportunity to build a beautiful and secure future. It is only through the collective efforts of everyone in society that it will be possible to build such a humane and compassionate society where every child can grow up with love, care, and security.
